Responsible Fishery

Responsible Fishery can be defined as follows; considering both recreational and professional fishery, responsible fishery is the fishery concept in which a responsible fisherman conforms to relevant national legislation on fishery & universally accepted ethical rules and principles of responsible fishery, and ideally also knows marine species having no economic value & marine-coastal ecosystems and protect them. A responsible fisherman is also expected not only recognizes and applies national fishery legislation and also responsible fishery ethical rules & principles but also to disseminate knowledge on responsible fishery and take corrective actions when an illegal or unethical situation is encountered.

The details of the universal rules & procedures of responsible fishery concept are given in this page below and also in the book Transition to Responsible Fishery (in Turkish).
